Service mode of BDA updates

Updated: 2021-06-08

The GNSS and LBS Association of China recently released the 2021 White Paper on the Industrial Development of the China Satellite Navigation and Location Service.

The white paper shows that domestic technological innovation of navigation and location services with Beidou as the core remains active, and key technologies such as domestic chips and modules have made further breakthroughs. The Beidou system has been integrated into daily life.

As the main platform of Beijing's construction of an international science and technology innovation center, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) tapped the potential of Beidou applications, using innovative technologies to promote location services to precise time-space services.

The white paper also shows that the overall output value of China's satellite navigation and location service industry will reach 403.3 billion yuan ($63.12 billion) in 2020, an increase of about 16.9 percent over 2019.

As early as 2011 the BDA had set up a national satellite navigation industry technology innovation incubator in the Software Park of the Beijing University of Technology.

To date, the BDA has gathered more than 20 companies related to navigation and positioning, initially forming an industrial chain, and has successively developed core technology products for Beidou applications.

The overall scale of the navigation and positioning industry has reached nearly 10 billion yuan, with an average annual compound growth rate of more than 30 percent.

The number of patents owned by industrial enterprises has reached several hundred, and includes dozens of internationally authorized patents.

As the BDA stepped up building a scenario city, the high-quality navigation and positioning products, technologies and solutions that have been developed are gradually being applied to urban construction and industrial development.

On the screen of the monitoring platform of the BDA Information Office, the number and layout of the tube wells at each intersection are clear at a glance. The city operation department also applied Beidou navigation and positioning technology to set up electronic fences in  "non-motorized vehicle parking areas" on public roads.

Such Beidou navigation and positioning technology and products have been widely used in various municipal facilities for water, electricity, gas, heat, and transportation.

With the support of Beidou technology and products, smart cities have gradually formed in the BDA.
