BDA to build green technological innovation center

Updated: 2021-07-28

During the first session of the China-EU Partnership Dialogue held on July 13, Tan Xuxiang, director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, introduced that Beijing will implement the Green Beijing strategy.

During the "14th Five-Year Plan" (2016-20) period, the "Prohibition and Restriction Catalog of New Industries" will be optimized to control the increment of non-capital functions from the source, according to Tan.

Meanwhile, Beijing will be built into a green technological innovation center with regional and international influence. Among them, Zhongguancun, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA), Huairou Science City, Future Science City and Pinggu district will become Beijing's five green technology innovation clusters.

The "Development and Construction of the BDA during the "14th Five-Year Plan" Period and the Long-term Target Plan for 2035" issued by the BDA has already proposed that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the economic and social development of the BDA must follow the principle of more prominent green development.

The area will establish an ecological priority and green development orientation, further promote the construction of a "waste-free city", and encourage the expansion of the energy-saving and environmental protection industries.

The area will also optimize the structures of energy and industry, fight for pollution prevention and control, improve the scale and quality of ecological spaces, and set up a demonstration for promoting the harmonious coexistence of man and nature.

In terms of the construction of a "waste-free city", the BDA will further promote "waste-free" in the industrial sector, continue to improve the policy system, and formulate and implement the "Guidelines for Waste-free Construction in Industrial Parks".

In addition, the BDA will accelerate the cultivation of energy-saving and environmental protection industries, and attract foreign-funded companies involved in key resource recycling and innovative environmental protection technologies to the area.

The area will deepen the construction of national eco-industrial demonstration parks, and promote enterprises to accelerate the construction of green supply chains and green factories. This aims to improve the green manufacturing system of "parks + supply chains + enterprises".

Through innovation and development, the BDA will take the lead in the steady reduction of carbon emissions to achieve carbon neutrality, promote a comprehensive green and low-carbon upgrading of production and lifestyle, and strive to achieve a carbon peak by 2025 and carbon neutrality by 2050.
