Beijing E-Town innovation ecology conference held in CIFTIS

The conference on Beijing E-Town's science, technology and innovation ecology raised its curtain in the Metaverse Experience Hall of the 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services, on Sept 3.

Guo Meng, deputy director of the Beijing Economic and Technology Development Area Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, introduced the achievements, practices and policies of Beijing E-Town in promoting scientific and technological innovation at the meeting. 

This July, China's first commercial order for unmanned travel services was made in Beijing E-Town.

In terms of gathering scientific and technological innovation resources, by the end of 2021, Beijing E-Town had 364 accredited R&D institutions, including 25 at national-level and 339 at municipal-level , as well as 50 post-doctoral research stations.

Regarding industrial innovation and development, the number of national high-tech enterprises in Beijing E-Town reached 1,748 in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 34.8 percent.

As to optimizing the innovation and entrepreneurship environment, up to now, Beijing E-Town has eight national-level technology incubators, seven maker spaces, 59 certified urban renewal parks and characteristic parks, a pilot test site of over 1 million square-meters, and 59 public technical service platforms.

When it comes to supporting social progress and development, Beijing E-Town has built the world's first high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone, and accelerated the deployment of intelligent urban scenarios.

Among the 285 national standards for intelligent manufacturing that have been released in China, Beijing E-Town has contributed to one-third of the total. The area has also built 2,212 5G base stations, realizing the full coverage of 5G base stations.

According to Guo, Beijing E-Town, together with the the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, Zhongguancun Science City, Huairou Science City and Beijing Future Science Park, has successfully built a pilot base for the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements in Zhongguancun. 

Additionally, innovation projects and service institutions will receive support in rent subsidies and loan interest discounts. 

Since 2017, the Economic and Technological Development Zone has undertaken more than 600 projects for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the above-mentioned three science cities, and 1,200 new technologies and new products have been developed through industry-university-research cooperation.
