According to Li Haichao, manager of the Safety and Ecology Department of the Nanhaizi Park, the total area of the Nanhaizi Park is more than 7.9 million square meters.

The wetland area is 930,500 square meters, an increase of more than 600,000 square meters from 10 years ago. The area of aquatic plants is more than 200,000 square meters, an increase of nearly 150,000 square meters.

The Nanhaizi Park has adopted a series of measures to strengthen biodiversity and wetland protection.  It is cooperating with institutions like the Elk Garden, establishing biodiversity protection workstations, and setting up the Nanhaizi Park Wildlife Protection Monitoring Station, to improve the ecological system.

The park also regularly organizes assessments of terrestrial and aquatic plants, wild animals, and birds to further strengthen its ecological management. It carries out publicity activities on ecological protection, organizes the compilation of manuals and books for the research of biodiversity in the surrounding area. It manages water resources  and regularly tests water quality.

Aquatic plants in Nanhaizi Park are divided into three categories: emergent plants, floating plants and submerged plants. The park boasts nearly 10 species, including lotus, chrysanthemum, calamus, cattail, and safflower water lily.
