Beijing finalizes 33 livelihood projects

Beijing Municipality recently released plans for 33 livelihood projects in 2023.

The city aims to improve the quality of short-distance travel for residents, alleviate urban congestion, and plans to construct an urban waterfront slow traffic system with a length of about 1,100 kilometers [Photo/beijingetown.com.cn]

Beijing will add 20,000 primary and secondary school places in 2023; support qualified kindergartens to enroll children aged 2-3, and add 6,000 new nursery places. 

In addition, Beijing will add 2,000 elderly family care beds, 200 rural neighborhood mutual assistance elderly service points, and 150 new elderly dining points. 

The construction of 349 community health service centers in Beijing will provide diagnosis and treatment services for patients with 11 types of symptoms, such as a fever, and guide people infected with COVID-19 to manage their health at home.

The city will also build and raise 80,000 indemnificatory rental housing, and complete 90,000 various types of indemnificatory housing; promote the comprehensive improvement of old communities, start building 300 new communities, and complete 100 communities; strive to start installing 1,000 new elevators in old buildings and complete 600 elevators.

It will be more convenient for citizens in Beijing to do businesses and travel this year. 

The city will launch 60 items of "One Catch-all Business License" in the fields of medical care, transportation and so forth; online inquiries and calls of 20 types of electronic licenses, such as real estate title certificates and motor vehicle driving licenses, will also be launched.

Additionally, Beijing will promote the integration of its rail and bus operation network and time connection, and optimize and adjust 65 bus lines. 

By further revitalizing the parking resources of public buildings around residential areas, 150 paid and shared parking lots and 10,000 parking spaces will be added. Meanwhile, 5,000 new parking spaces will be added using the civil air defense project.

In 2023, Beijing will build 50 new pocket parks and small and micro green spaces, improve and optimize 10 parks in the urban-rural fringe area, and add 100 village forests.

What's more, the city will build 100 kilometers of forest trails; reduce fences and better connect  20 parks; connect four waterfront trails in the second ring water system, and open the 12 kilometers of waterfront trails from You'anmen to Tonghui River.

Relying on enterprise parks, large business circles, bank outlets, catering stores, chain supermarkets and gas stations, Beijing is going to build 60 workers' homes in public areas and 1,000 heart-warming stations for workers in new employment forms.
