Media outlets visit E-Town to explore industrial development

Updated: 2025-06-27

The "Vitality China Research Media Team" recently launched its first interview in Beijing, with over 80 journalists from 27 media outlets visiting 13 core locations in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town), to explore the achievements in economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) and decode the E-Town model where only 0.35 percent of the city's land contributes to nearly 30 percent of industrial value added.

Xiaomi speed

At Xiaomi's super vehicle factory, over 700 robotic arms dance precisely. "The automation rate of key processes here reaches 100 percent, with a whole vehicle coming off the line every 76 seconds," the factory's director told reporters.

Xiaomi SU7 achieved remarkable achievement of with sales exceeding 250,000 units in just 14 months since its launch. The factory's "international appeal" is also noteworthy—former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and diplomatic missions from 27 countries have visited successively, with multilingual guides witnessing China's global manufacturing influence.

As Xiaomi's automotive production capacity gradually unfolds, the competitiveness of Beijing E-Town in the field of new energy intelligent connected vehicles is becoming increasingly prominent. In 2024, the automotive production in E-Town surpassed 650,000 vehicles, with an output value exceeding 260 billion yuan ($36.17 billion), representing a year-on-year growth of over 20 percent.

Looking towards the next generation of the automotive industry, Beijing E-Town is accelerating the construction of an automotive smart manufacturing innovation city, striving to create an industrial ecosystem that integrates new energy intelligent connected vehicle manufacturing, mobility services, smart transportation, and the mutual promotion of future urban integration.

AI empowerment

In the digital world of artificial intelligence and new quality industrial community, the scene of "creating a digital person in 3 minutes" has become a reality. During the on-site demonstration, journalists witnessed the entire process of a digital anchor, from image capture to going live for e-commerce: entering personal data in 3 minutes, followed by 2 hours of training to generate an AI digital anchor capable of responding smoothly. Currently, this technology has been adopted by over 500 top global brands.

By the end of 2025, Beijing E-Town will have established a leading national artificial intelligence industrial ecosystem, opening up 100 iconic AI application scenarios to the public. It will bring together 600 core enterprises in the AI industry chain and achieve a breakthrough in the scale of the AI industry, exceeding 80 billion yuan.

Robot evolution

With the command given, the Tiangong 2.0 humanoid robot from the Beijing Robot Innovation Center effortlessly ascended the slope, achieving stable walking on a training ground littered with sandbags and stones. Standing at a height of 1.73 meters, this robot achieves full-process intelligence from task understanding to task execution.

"This technology signifies that humanoid robots are no longer just 'showy' tools; they have moved towards practical applications and can play a significant role in various scenarios such as logistics and specialized operations," said Yang Weiran, a journalist from the China Women's News, in an all-media report.

Space acceleration

In the exhibition hall of Galactic Energy, rocket models narrate the "Chinese speed" story. In 2023, the company completed 7 launch missions, ranking first in domestic commercial space launch frequency; In May 2025, its CERES-1 sea-launch rocket successfully placed the first phase satellite of the "Tianqi Constellation" into orbit, marking the completion of the world's first low-orbit satellite communication network.

LandSpace showcased a "future vision" of reusable rockets. Zhuque 3 rocket, using the full supercooling filling technology, can reduce launch costs by 80-90 percent after achieving recovery and reuse in a single stage.

Currently, Beijing E-Town has gathered over 160 aerospace companies and more than 600 aerospace ecosystem enterprises.

Ignite the future with intelligence

At the innovation operation center of the high-level autonomous driving demonstration area in Beijing, the journalist rode in an autonomous minibus that received real-time road condition information through the "vehicle-road-cloud integrated" system.

Through the coordinated integration of vehicle, road, cloud, network, and map, the demonstration area ensures the safe passage of autonomous vehicles in complex urban environments.

This theme interview activity in E-Town has provided media journalists with a close-up experience of touching the pulse of high technology and condensed the breakthrough path of the country's technological innovation. Multiple journalists expressed that what was showcased here was not only cutting-edge technology but also a vivid epitome of the surging momentum of industrial transformation and the future landscape.
