Cross-Strait tech cooperation yields fruitful results
The 28th Beijing-Taiwan Science and Technology Forum was held in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town) from Sept 19 to 21. The event showcased the practical achievements of Beijing and Taiwan in jointly fostering new productive capacities and deepening integrated development.
The forum focused on cross-strait technological innovation and industrial cooperation, with over 500 attendees at the opening ceremony, including relevant figures from the technology and industry sectors, industry association leaders, entrepreneurs from across the Strait, as well as representatives of Taiwanese businesses.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, the Cross-Strait Science and Technology Innovation Center Policy System 3.0 and the Three-Year Action Plan for the Construction of the Cross-Strait Science and Technology Innovation Center (2025-2027) were released, further clarifying the future development path. This represents not only an upgrade in institutional support and the creation of an innovation ecosystem but also injects stronger momentum into cross-Strait industrial collaborative innovation and integrated development.
In addition, the Cross-Strait Economic and Technological Cooperation Center and the Beijing E-Town signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly develop a cross-Strait smart healthcare industry cooperation demonstration zone. Ten Taiwanese companies based in Beijing E-Town signed co-construction cooperation agreements with the center; and 12 projects in fields such as biomedicine and next-generation information technology also reached cooperation intentions with the center.
Since its operation began in April 2024, the Cross-Strait Science and Technology Innovation Center has attracted 89 partner companies and collaborators, and has engaged with nearly 50 Taiwan-funded projects, gradually becoming an important platform for promoting cross-Strait technological cooperation. In the future, the center will fully leverage Beijing's advantages of a concentration of high-end talent and a strong technological foundation to create a comprehensive service platform for the innovative and integrated development of cross-Strait technology enterprises, providing better support for Taiwanese businesses and companies to develop in Beijing.
In the main forum session, leading figures in science and technology and industry experts from both sides of the strait delivered speeches on themes such as AI empowering new productivity. The convergence of diverse perspectives showcased the deep thinking and open attitude of the cross-Strait technology community towards the future direction of the industry.
