Updated: 2021-03-30

An initial meeting to draw an innovation and application roadmap for intelligent and connected vehicles was recently held by the China Industry Innovation Alliance for Intelligent and Connected Vehicles and China Intelligent and Connected Vehicles (Beijing) Research Institute Co.

Li Keqiang, chief scientist at the State Intelligent and Connected Vehicles Innovation Center and professor of Tsinghua University, suggested that the innovation and application roadmap should consider the connection between vehicles and the information, transportation and energy industries.

He said that research in technology, applied management and business modes should be done to make the application roadmap into a report that can solve the problems of industrial development in that sector.

The innovation and application roadmap will be drafted by the alliance and the institute in cooperation with major enterprises and other institutes. It will survey the application situation of overseas and domestic intelligent and connected vehicles, especially in AVP, Robotaxi, HWP, shuttle buses, freight carriers, and patrol and investigation vehicles.

The meeting's participants are embarking on research about potential popular uses of such vehicles and related facilities and services to find ways to achieve the goals of the intelligent and connected vehicle industry, which the alliance will advance.
