Need a new bank card? It's three minutes away…

Updated: 2021-04-01

Recently, several devices labeled "Remote Smart Banking" were neatly placed in the lobby of Shanghai Pudong Development Bank (SPD Bank)'s branch in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA).

After some simple operation in front of one of them, a bank card emerged from the machine. The whole process took less than 3 minutes. Through intelligent construction, the bank continues to build application scenarios in the financial field, making the city the "first scene" of innovation.

The introduction of smart banking equipment into urban scenarios has effectively facilitated the transformation of banking outlets.

At present, the device can realize seven categories of bill acceptance, voucher purchase, unit settlement card issuance, and 42 corporate off-the-counter procedures.

For example, it supports single card issuance, activation, electronic signing, customer information modification and loss reporting.

There are nearly 40 main functions involved in operations of customers’ businesses, among which the three most important on a daily basis are card issuance, card cancellation, and transfers.

In 2020, the branch handled 96,000 transactions with only one self-service device for the company, allowing customers to try out the brand-new, smart and fast self-service.

"In the future, the construction of 'smart banks will not only stop at the iterative update of equipment, but also mean upgrading the comprehensive data of branch services and marketing," according to a staff member of SPD Bank.

"Smart Bank" provides a development engine for the BDA's "Smart Finance". Currently, the BDA is actively exploring various fields such as unmanned factories, autonomous driving, smart governance, smart parks, park cities, and so on, and is continuously exploring new urban application scenarios.
