First domestic knee joint surgical robot approved by NMPA

Updated: 2022-03-01

In front of the operating table, a doctor performs a full knee arthroplasty (TKA) assisted by a robot.

The display screen on the navigation console clearly shows a 3D model of the patient's knee joint. The osteotomy saw is no longer held in the doctor's hand, but installed on a seven-axis robotic arm.

Zhang Changyong, CEO of Beijing Hurwr Medical Technology Co., Ltd., remarked, "Our self-developed HURWA joint surgical robot has been approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for marketing, becoming the first domestic knee joint surgical robot approved by the NMPA in China.”

Beijing Hurwr Medical Technology officially registered and settled in Fengchuang Science and Technology Venture Park (VPark) of the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) in 2018.

The company has 57 authorized patents, 89 trademarks, and 34 software copyrights, and has developed intelligent medical equipment integrating clinical medicine, biomechanics, computer science and other disciplines.

Relying on the dual industrial agglomeration effect brought by the robotics and intelligent manufacturing industry, as well as the biomedicine and massive health industry in the BDA, Hurwr has been accumulating experience. With the coordination of VPark, its production lines have been expanded to build 150 robots each year.
