Hurwr Medical Technology has just announced mass production of its independently developed surgical robot. And, Beijing Aier Aviation Technology has achieved a good start in the first quarter, with its latest research and a group of developed products launched in April.

Good news from enterprises in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) has recently been springing up.

According to statistics, in the first two months of this year, R&D investment in the BDA has increased by more than 20 percent year-on-year.

Chen Yanshun, chairman of BOE, remarked that BOE's market share in the five major application fields of mobile phones, tablet computers, notebook computers, monitors, and TVs, continues to rank first in the world, which is inseparable from BOE's respect for technology.

In 2021, the company's R&D expenses exceeded 10 billion yuan ($1.57 billion) for the first time, a year-on-year increase of 31.72 percent.

The R&D investment of NAURA Technology Group, which has just entered its third phase, also reached a record high, with R&D investment accounting for 41 percent of the company's total in 2021.

Innovation and technological progress have brought about an ever-increasing dynamic comparative advantage.

NAURA's revenue in the first two months of this year increased by 135 percent, and new orders grew by 60 percent; and BOE stated at the briefing on April 6 that its revenue in 2021 will exceed 200 billion yuan for the first time.

In addition, according to data released by market research firm Stone Partners, BOE's flexible OLED shipments in the first quarter of this year are expected to reach 20.2 million units, an increase of 74 percent from the 11.6 million units shipped in the same period last year.

The BDA has all along encouraged technological innovation, continuously increased R&D investment, and concentrated its resources on supporting high-tech enterprises while cultivating a number of internationally influential companies such as BOE, SMIC, NAURA, Chipone, SinoCellTech, and Tide Pharmaceutical.
