Interesting manual classes that involve both hands and brains are the most common labor classes. In the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA), children's handicraft classes are not only combined with traditional handicrafts, but also ride the trend of technological innovation.

Kites, lanterns, models of scenic spots, hand-knot weaving, costume design, embroidery...BDA School of the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China has set up labor skill courses for students doing a variety of handicrafts.

In the science and technology club of Yizhuang No. 2 Primary School, the children designed and used 3D printing, developing the "sterilized chopsticks cage", the "welcome robot" and the "portable footrest".

Every spring, a group of students visit the fruit, vegetable and flower garden of Beijing E-Town Academy. They loose soil, dig holes, sow seeds, plant seedlings, refill soil and water plants, learning horticulture in the process of farming.

These students also clean up garbage in the community, furbish fitness equipment, promoting low-carbon activities, green travel included. Besides, they offer care for the elderly in nursing homes, and help disabled children in welfare houses.
