Beijing E-Town issues world's international standard for IoT electronic labelling

Updated: 2022-06-24

Recently, the "ISO/IEC 30169:2022 Internet of Things (IoT) - IoT applications for electronic label system (ELS)" led by BOE was officially released through ISO/IEC JTC1 SC41, the international IoT authoritative standard organization.

This standard is the first IoT international standard in China's smart retail industry and the world's first international standard for IoT application of electronic label systems.

It stipulates the system framework, IoT application model, functional requirements, interface requirements, and performance requirements of electronic label systems.

The release of this standard fills a gap in the industry, supports the standardized development of the IoT-based industry and its technological upgrading, and is applicable to many fields such as education, business, health services, smart parks, and advertising.

Data shows that by the end of 2021, BOE's smart retail solutions had been implemented in more than 30,000 stores in more than 60 countries around the world.

Among them, BOE electronic labels, as paperless display products, had nearly 300 million global shipments. Prices on the labels change 5 billion times every year, which is equivalent to saving 6,000 tons of paper and protecting more than 100,000 trees, promoting green and low-carbon development.
