New Zero Carbon Factory in Beijing E-Town

Updated: 2022-12-27

Schneider Electric (Beijing) Low-Voltage Electrical Appliances Co (Beijing Low-Voltage Factory) was recently recognized as a "Zero-Carbon Factory" by TiGroup.

The Titanium Certification is a third-party certification body accredited by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment, and is the presiding unit of the group standard "Zero Carbon Factory Evaluation Specification" (T/CECA-G 0171-2022).

The Beijing low-voltage factory has already obtained the certifications of "green factory" and "carbon neutral" factory, and its recent certification of "zero-carbon factory" is an important milestone in it practicing the concept of green and low-carbon development.

In the factory, located in Beijing E-Town, the high-energy-efficiency air compressors are running at full capacity. With its intelligent cloud control system, intelligent AI controls the orderly work of the air compressors.

By the end of 2021, the air compressor transformation had achieved an annual 12 percent increase in energy efficiency, reduced 141 tons of carbon, and saved 230,000 degrees of electricity.

The factory has also adopted photovoltaic power generation on a large scale, with an annual power generation capacity of 2.4MW.

Through the EMA micro-grid management system, changes in energy supply and demand are predicted, real-time operation optimization is realized, and the penetration rate of photovoltaic power generation is improved.

As of 2019, the system can provide 30 percent of the electricity for factories in Beijing every year, with an annual power generation of 2.7 million kWh and a reduction of 1,656.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This is currently Schneider Electric's largest photovoltaic project in China.

As of December 2022, among Schneider Electric's 29 factories and logistics centers in China, there are already 16 Schneider Electric "zero-carbon factories", one third-party certified "zero-carbon factory", 15 "green factories" of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and 12 "carbon neutral" factories, the number of zero-carbon factories in China ranks first in the world.
