Twenty vehicles from Baidu and Pony.ai have been approved to carry out road tests in groups on a limited route of 20 square kilometers and at specific time periods in the Beijing E-Town. This means that the road test of autonomous driving has officially entered the stage of unmanned vehicles in Beijing.

Since October 2021, the demonstration zone has opened up unmanned road tests. According to the change of the driver's location, the unmanned advancement is divided into three test stages: Passenger driver, rear passenger and outside remote.

Meanwhile, according to the technical ability verification, service ability verification, and commercialization model exploration ideas, it corresponds to the three-level open path of "road test", "demonstration application" and "commercialization pilot" in turn.

So far, a total of 70 unmanned passenger vehicles have been deployed in the demonstration area, with an unmanned mileage exceeding 1.3 million kilometers. The vehicles are stable and have no safety accidents. The cumulative service exceeds 1 million person-times, and the favorable rate among passengers has reached over 95 percent.
