On Feb 10, Yin Li, Party secretary of Beijing Municipality, met with Ola Källenius, chairman of the German Mercedes-Benz Group AG, via video.

Yin introduced the economic and social development of Beijing, and congratulated Mercedes-Benz Group and BAIC Group on their achievements since establishing their cooperation. 

He said that over the years, Mercedes-Benz Group has witnessed and participated in the development of Beijing and China's auto industry, and that its business in China has continued to grow rapidly, and its development in Beijing has maintained good momentum. 

In the past year, the GDP of Beijing reached 4.16 trillion yuan ($610.27 billion), with the GDP per capita ranking first in the country. The technological innovation was active, the scale of consumption and investment grew steadily, and the business environment continued to improve, providing a broader scope for the two sides to deepen cooperation. 

The vigorous development of Beijing Benz is the result of the long-term mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Germany. It is hoped that the Mercedes-Benz Group will continue to participate in supporting Beijing's economic and social development, and better promote mutually beneficial cooperation between Germany and China. Beijing will continue to optimize its business environment and fully support the development of enterprises here, Yin added.

The development potential of China's auto market is huge, and Beijing's high-tech talent resources are dense, making a fertile ground for innovation and development. Mercedes-Benz Group will explore the Chinese market, grasp the huge opportunities brought by China's economic growth, deepen cooperation with BAIC Group, increase investment in research and development in Beijing, actively promote the transformation of electrification and intelligence, and continuously improve the core competitiveness of products, according to Ola Källenius.
