Beijing's first dual-intelligence private network starts operation in Beijing E-Town

Updated: 2023-10-30

Recently, the dual-intelligence private network, built in collaboration with the Beijing Municipal High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone (BJHAD) has completed continuous coverage within a 60-square-kilometer area in Beijing E-Town and officially entered the operational phase.

This marks the first instance in Beijing where a high-speed wireless private network has transitioned from a pilot program to large-scale deployment.

Dedicated network with an end-to-end average latency of less than 10 milliseconds

Leveraging domestically developed and controllable EUHT technology, the dual-intelligence private network boasts unique advantages in supporting data transmission for intelligent transportation and smart city applications.

In terms of low latency, when autonomous vehicles are on the road, they are constantly transmitting vast amounts of data in real-time.

Only lower latency can enable them to respond promptly to changing road conditions, such as braking and turning.

Using the dual-intelligence private network, it is possible to achieve an end-to-end average latency of less than 10 milliseconds. This is much faster than the blink of an eye, which lasts over 10 milliseconds, meaning that vehicles can complete tasks imperceptibly to humans.

Additionally, the dual-intelligence private network offers high reliability, high bandwidth, and extensive connectivity.

The network switching success rate exceeds 99.999 percent, ensuring stable and reliable signal connections with seamless base station transitions.

The private network also provides a bandwidth of no less than 200 Mbps and can adjust the uplink and downlink bandwidth based on business requirements. A single base station can support up to 200 terminal users, making it highly scalable.

Serving over 600 autonomous vehicles

During the construction process, Beijing Smart City Network Co established the dual-intelligence private network management platform within the BJHAD.

With the platform's official release on Oct 18, a new chapter in the operation of the dual-intelligence private network has begun.

The management platform consists of four modules: configuration management, performance management, alarm management, and system management, mentioned Wu Hao, general manager of Beijing Smart City Network Co.

"We have already collaborated with Beijing Smart City Network Co to provide services to over 600 autonomous vehicles in the field of intelligent transportation. In the next step, we will continue to prioritize the network, making the city and daily life more convenient, and services more comprehensive." According to the BJHAD Office.
