Sino-German green energy industry collaboration initiated

Updated: 2023-12-14

The Sino-German Green Energy Industry Exchange Symposium was held in Beijing E-Town on Dec 8.

Beijing E-Town and the Steinbeis Global Institute Tübingen (SGIT) in Germany signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement, marking the initiation of the Sino-German green energy industry cooperation action.

The deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal Government; Bernd Westphal, member of the German Federal Parliament; and Elena Finckh, Economic and Energy Representative of the German Embassy in China, delivered respective speeches on the "development of the Sino-German green energy sector," reviewing the history of cooperation between Chinese and German enterprises in the field of green energy and looking forward to future cooperation prospects.

During the event, representatives from both China and Germany jointly launched the Sino-German green energy industry cooperation action. The deputy director of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) Administrative Committee and the chief representative of SGIT China signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement between Beijing E-Town Administrative Committee and the SGIT.

According to the agreement, Steinbeis, adhering to the principles of openness and sharing, will deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Beijing E-Town in areas such as technology transfer, talent cultivation, technological innovation, and industrialization projects.

Europe is currently undergoing an energy transition, and deepening cooperation in green environmental protection will help address the challenges of transformation jointly and contribute practical solutions to global low-carbon transformation.

In fact, Sino-German cooperation in green energy has a solid foundation. In June of this year, during Sino-German government consultations, both sides unanimously agreed to establish a dialogue and cooperation mechanism on climate change and green transformation. This green energy industry cooperation action is the implementation of the results of Sino-German government consultations.

During the visit, the German delegation also toured representative companies in Beijing E-Town in the hydrogen energy sector, such as the New Research Hydrogen Energy Technology Co, and firms in the green energy sector, like Bluestar (Beijing) Chemical Machinery Co, to understand the technological research, development and innovation situation of these enterprises.
