Beijing E-Town creates aerospace industry cluster

Updated: 2023-12-19

To offer more space for innovation, research and development, Beijing E-Town, where the headquarters of commercial aerospace enterprises are concentrated, is planning to build the Beijing Rocket Street Commercial Aerospace Common Research and Production Base in Yinghai town.

The project covers an area of nearly 60,000 square meters and includes more than ten experimental platforms, two experimental zones, multiple workshops, and over 50,000 square meters of incubation space for enterprises.

Its functions span the entire life cycle of enterprises, from the startup phase to the growth phase and maturity phase, providing services for the entire industry chain of research and development, design, manufacturing, and application.

Currently, there are 53 companies in the area with aerospace as their main business, including seven launch vehicle companies (five of which have successfully launched).

The concentration of commercial rocket companies accounts for 70 percent nationwide, forming a veritable "Rocket Street."

The unified planning and construction of the aerospace industry cluster will attract more aerospace enterprises to start and grow their businesses in the area.

Upgrading Rocket Street will focus on accelerating the improvement of the industrialization base capabilities of commercial aerospace in Beijing E-Town. It will provide such services as common research and development, shared testing, shared manufacturing, cultural and creative displays, and enterprise incubation for commercial aerospace enterprises.

In terms of common research and development, the basic research and development of commercial aerospace, common technology research and development, as well as pre-research and technical services for cutting-edge commercial aerospace technology will be conducted.

Collaborations between universities and research institutions will be promoted to enhance the technical supply to commercial aerospace enterprises.

In terms of shared testing, 14 shared testing platforms will be established for the entire process of launch vehicle and commercial satellite testing and verification, with the construction of two experimental zones providing support for rocket and satellite research and testing.

In shared manufacturing, key intelligent manufacturing of launch vehicles and satellites will be carried out to meet the innovative design and manufacturing needs of commercial aerospace industrialization, setting up multiple innovative manufacturing units.

For the display of commercial aerospace, a display center will be established to showcase the achievements of commercial aerospace development in Beijing E-Town, and aerospace-themed cultural and educational activities and tourism will be promoted.

In addition, Rocket Street will provide space for industry alliance organization activities and enterprise incubation space.
